About the Author
F. Marian McNeill (1885-1973) was a journalist and writer with a deep love and knowledge of Scots language, lore and traditions. The Scots Kitchen, her most popular book, first published in 1929, gives a delightful account of eating and drinking in Scotland throughout the ages, with definitive recipes for all the old national dishes. Fascinating culinary dip into history

Two of my several passions are: food, and the Scottish Gaelic language. So it's no surprise that I love this book! I learned so much about Scotland, and its food in a very engaging way in the Scots Kitchen. There's even a few Scottish Gaelic words (more than a few!) sprinkled in here and there to flavor the brew. I wonder what we are all missing in our diets now. They are, for the most part, nothing like what people were eating throughout history in Scotland, and Scotland is noted for strong, healthy, intelligent people. I highly recommend this book!

Great Book of Traditional Scottish Cooking

This is a great book. With my research into my family's Scottish background, I wanted to learn what some of the traditional food was and even make some myself. There are recipes I never intend on trying, like Blood Pudding. Others, however I want to try in my own kitchen.
