Oh the feelings!!

OH MAN! Talk about a cliffhanger! Day and Chase are the friends who become lovers. But when growing up life, distance, even death seem to constantly try their relationship. But no matter what these two always find a way back together...Or will they?

The relationship between Day and Chase is turbulent. The author wrote this book in a way you can't help but feel what the characters are whether it's happiness, love, giddiness, or pain. I laughed, smiled, and teared up while reading this book. You can't but hold out hope for these two.

This was such a good book that I really stayed up until I finished. I just couldn't stop in the middle. Then I went and bought Catching Day (Chasing Day Book 2) right away!

Daylen and Chase share a past that has had them being best friends and neighbours since they were young children. As they grow so does their bond and their feelings. They become inseparable and it is a thing of beauty to watch grow and blossom. This story starts as young friendship and respect and blossoms into love and coming into adult hood and all of the adventures and life situations that that journey takes them on. There are lots of ups and downs and twists and turns and tells the story of a heartwarming but also heartbreaking tale at times. I loved the chemistry between Daylen and Chase and desperately look forward to the second installment of their story to find out what happens next in their story as part one does end in a bit of a cliffhanger. A great read by a talented author! Happy Reading!

Thoughts: I read this as part of the Men Love Curves Anthology. Dang cliffhanger!!! I was hooked right from the start and moaned when it ended. The writing was just awesome, and the characters were so easy to love. This story really shows how hard relationships really are, even when you are in love. The struggles of long distance relationships, or how just life, emotions, and pride get in the way of what we want or know we should do but can’t. Gripping story that won’t let go until the very end, which then leaves you screaming for more!

About the Author
Peter Schoenaerts studied Literature and Linguistics (Dutch and English) at the University of Louvain and trained as an actor at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York. He co-authored several language manuals and other publications (a.o. Vanzelfsprekend, Niet Vanzelfsprekend, Go Dutch!, Thematische Woordenschat Nederlands voor Anderstaligen, Het Grote Puzzel- en Doeboek voor Anderstaligen). From 2005 till the end of 2008 he taught Dutch at one of the largest Dutch Language and Culture schools: 't Klokhuis (in New Jersey and New York). He currently works for the Taaluniecentrum Dutch as a Foreign Language in Brussels. He is also an actor and director.

Dutch Learners - An easy reading play

"Meer is altijd beter" is a learning play that helps fill the hole of intermediate language learning after you finish beginning Dutch courses like Rosetta Stone levels 1-3. This play introduces the top one thousand words and by their context in the play dialog, the meanings of the new vocabulary is fairly easy to decipher. It is fun reading, you'll chuckle at least a couple times during your reading. There is a nice intro on how to best use the play and good follow-on exercises in the back. The book is fine for individual study, but really set up for classroom use. That would be fun! Not for beginning students, but an excellent resource for us "advanced beginners or intermediates". What the "Le Petit Prince" did for french students, this play does for dutch learners.

About the Author
Dr. Wai-Fah Chen was Professor and Dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Hawaii from 1999 to 2006. From 1976 to 1999, he was Head of the Department of Structural Engineering at Purdue University and George E. Goodwin Distinguished Professor of Civil Engineering; prior to that he taught at Lehigh University. The author of more than 300 peer-reviewed publications and author or co-author of 20 books, his primary areas of research are constitutive modeling of engineering materials, soil and concrete plasticity, structural connections, and structural stability. He received his Ph.D. from Brown University. He is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and an Honorary member of the American Society of Civil Engineers.

For those who want to study hard the beyond-elastic-limit behavior of the materials, this book is a good choice. After an introduction to tensorial mathematics and Einstein's indicial notation, the plastic models are presented to the reader. On its first part, it is presented a general theory of plasticity for any kind of materials as metals, rocks, soils and concretes. Several examples of practical applications are given. On the second part, the study is concerned on metal plasticity and a numerical finite element approach is presented. The theory presented in this book is very complete and deeply explained, but the language in many parts is bit confuse, which makes the study more difficult. If you are looking for an introductory reading, it could be a good idea to try "Continuum Theory of Plasticity", by Akhtar S. Khan. This book provides a comprehensive treatment for the plasticity and inelastic behaviors of structural members under combined stresses. It covers all aspects of plasticity for both steel and reinforced concrete structures. While structural engineers will find this book a useful reference for elastic and plastic analysis and design of framed structures, university professors will find it a good textbook for courses on plasticity and limit analysis. I am delighted to know the book is now available at an affordable price for university adoption.

This is one of the wonderful books in plasticity. Especially the language in the book is self explanatory. Worked out examples provided in this book gives the reader a clear picture of concepts. As the title suggests, this is mainly focussed on plasticity in structures. Swinger Style

Now that most of the Hot Rods are involved in committed relationships, Swinger's beginning to feel like the odd man out, and if he's honest, a bit jealous of what the others have, so when he sees the chance to have the same thing for himself with Sabra he knows he should go for it, but he has to overcome the hangups from his past first. I'm not sure why Sabra hung around long enough to see past Swinger's protective walls, because he was downright mean to her . . . but she did, and once he stopped fighting it so hard, it was sweet to see them together. I'm looking forward to Barracuda and Meep's story (I've been waiting for that one for a while). Can't wait! Great series!

I have been reading Jayne Rylon for 5 years I have my favorite book and series. But in the last couple of books I have read Jayne has had me wanting the next book like now. It is no different this time. Swinger Style has everything. The story between Holden and Saber is great. The Hot Rods and the ladies make you want more. If you have not read the Hot Rod series then you should. If you have then you will not be disappointed in the book. Thank you Jayne for writing a great story. I can not wait for the next book.

Jayne Rylon never fails to please, her characters are like old friends and I can't wait to see what they'll be up to next. The sex is smoking hot, and the situations that her characters deal with are real life and she deals with the honestly without sugar coating. Although I do have to say about the ending "How could you? We have to wait to see what will happen? Cruel, Jayne, just cruel!!"

Fascinating culinary dip into history

Two of my several passions are: food, and the Scottish Gaelic language. So it's no surprise that I love this book! I learned so much about Scotland, and its food in a very engaging way in the Scots Kitchen. There's even a few Scottish Gaelic words (more than a few!) sprinkled in here and there to flavor the brew. I wonder what we are all missing in our diets now. They are, for the most part, nothing like what people were eating throughout history in Scotland, and Scotland is noted for strong, healthy, intelligent people. I highly recommend this book!

Great Book of Traditional Scottish Cooking

This is a great book. With my research into my family's Scottish background, I wanted to learn what some of the traditional food was and even make some myself. There are recipes I never intend on trying, like Blood Pudding. Others, however I want to try in my own kitchen.

The past half-century has been marked by major changes in the treatment of mental illness: important advances in understanding mental illnesses, increases in spending on mental health care and support of people with mental illnesses, and the availability of new medications that are easier for the patient to tolerate. Although these changes have made things better for those who have mental illness, they are not quite enough.

In Better But Not Well, Richard G. Frank and Sherry A. Glied examine the well-being of people with mental illness in the United States over the past fifty years, addressing issues such as economics, treatment, standards of living, rights, and stigma. Marshaling a range of new empirical evidence, they first argue that people with mental illness―severe and persistent disorders as well as less serious mental health conditions―are faring better today than in the past. Improvements have come about for unheralded and unexpected reasons. Rather than being a result of more effective mental health treatments, progress has come from the growth of private health insurance and of mainstream social programs―such as Medicaid, Supplemental Security Income, housing vouchers, and food stamps―and the development of new treatments that are easier for patients to tolerate and for physicians to manage.

The authors remind us that, despite the progress that has been made, this disadvantaged group remains worse off than most others in society. The "mainstreaming" of persons with mental illness has left a policy void, where governmental institutions responsible for meeting the needs of mental health patients lack resources and programmatic authority. To fill this void, Frank and Glied suggest that institutional resources be applied systematically and routinely to examine and address how federal and state programs affect the well-being of people with mental illness.

A cut and dry policy book

It's a relatively unbiased view of the evolution of mental health policy in the US, and it covers most of the key points, from availability and structure of care to the costs and financing, as well as quality of care. There's also some minor discussion of rights and social stigma based on survey data. However, it buys into the mainstream narrative of psychiatry, which is very positive toward the field, which is challenge by a lot of new research, as well as books such as "American Psychosis". This book is a great start, but you should probably couple it with a few other readings if you really want a comprehensive understanding of what's happened.

in the system.

Purchase this book with the recognition that its value is in its historical / policy approach of the subject. Some of the
commentary on pharmacology is dated - example, tricyclics being noted as first line therapy for depression.

I found the coverage of factors that have impacted mental health care in the US very comprehensive and authoritative. The authors are clearly thoughtful about the complexities, including the philosophical and sociological perspectives at play, and extremely knowledgeable about the pragmatic details of policy development and implementation. An excellent work!

Military Police service while at war

This book is a good "short" read about one of America's "kids" experience serving in the military police while involved with the war. It opens up one more area of service our soldiers provide while we are engaged in war. You'll enjoy his story and love the quotes he provides at the beginning of each chapter. Overall a good choice for reading.
