Not a Message I want to send to my Child

I'm very surprised with the other reviews. They must not be single parents. The author is not a single parent, which I realized after I read the book. The message this book sends is not a message I want my child to get. I don't know a single parent that wants children to get this message.
The message this book is sending is this:
I had a dream of raising you with someone else, but that didn't work out.
Now we have a really hard time because I can't do it alone, and let's dream together for someone else to come and help us. The only way life will be good is if our dream (of someone else saving us) comes true.
WHAT???
Now I wonder, do you have to be a single parent to know that this message is an absurd message to send to your child?
How about this: We CAN do this together.
If you are raising your child alone, and are thinking about purchasing this book, I say save your time and money.
I don't want this book in my house, and I won't give it away. I don't want any child to get this message. I have never in my life thrown a book away. This will be a first.

Made me cry

Loved this book because it says everything I want to say to my son. However my son is 5 and I think it is a tad older then he is to understand or comprehend but would still recommend.

Very biased and perpetuates sterotypes! NOT what we should teach children

This book perpetuates stereotypes about children in single family homes. It send a really awful message to chidren! One part actually says that the Mom will worry about money, asking if she will have money for toys and books, clothes and college....."All the big and little stuff that says I love you, and I want you to suceed!" OMG......really???? Is that what tells children we love them?
If you want to get a book about single parenting, find a differnt one!
