Not as funny as I thought it would be, must have lost something in translation, still it had its moments, I'd just read Hotel Le Big Knob and that was very funny so I was a bit spoilt. I enjoyed it though and found it good to look at a real French Farce.

About the Author
Julie McNamara is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics Education at California State University, East Bay in Hayward, California. She has also served as Mathematics Specialist with TeachingWorks at the University of Michigan. Julie spent two years supporting elementary and middle school teachers as a fulltime designer and provider of mathematics professional development for Math Solutions, and continues to consult for Math Solutions part-time. She has also taught mathematics methods in the elementary credential programs at the University of California, Berkeley and at Saint Mary s College in Moraga, California. She is a former classroom teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her experience in the classroom led her to pursue graduate studies in the Development in Mathematics and Science program at the University of California, Berkeley, and to earn her master s degree and Ph.D. in mathematics education. Her research focuses on the teaching and learning of mathematics concepts that are foundational but considered hard to teach and hard to learn. Julie is co-author of Beyond Pizzas & Pies: 10 Essential Strategies for Supporting Fraction Sense, 2010, as well as Beyond Pizzas & Pies: 10 Essential Strategies for Supporting Fractions Sense, Second Edition, 2015. Phenomenal, and well worth it

McNamara's book on fraction sense is expertly crafted and includes deep insights into the foundations of fractions and how to help guide student understanding. The DVD is well-designed, with helpful examples of the lessons included in the book. The reproducibles are available, for free, online. (Just make sure you don't include the semicolon like the back of the book has or else the link won't work!) However, other than the DVD, the updated version is no gigantic leap over the original. If you won't view the DVDs, you may wish to buy the first edition. The reproducibles are available no matter which version you get! Nonetheless, this book is a splendid resource for any math teacher's aiming to increase their students' fraction sense.

Excellent Book on Great Leadership

I am obsessed with the fact that some people achieve such greatness yet others spend their lives sitting on the couch complaining about everything around them and satisfied with being miserable. "Driven" was one of the best business books (I am an avid business/self help reader)I've read to date. I started reading it yesterday morning and was finished by mid afternoon. It is one of those books where you can take concrete action items to propel your life ahead. Every leader - business and community alike - should read it and I will be recommending it to every business owner I work with. Thank you Razi!

I wish "Driven" had been available before I retired as a college professor. For 42 years, I taught English at Penn State University. I would have made the book required reading for its creative writing style and for its message of hope and inspiration for anyone wishing to succeed personally, professionally, and communally.
The theme of "Driven" by Razi Imam is Junoon-"the state of obsession to achieve the impossible." The book's sub-title is "A How-To Strategy For Unlocking Your Greatest Potential." Most how-to books are written in a third person point of view in a technical,objective manner. What makes this book appealing and interesting to read is its first person narrative style. What makes the read even more compelling is the narrative framework of a quest - one person's passionate search to find the "answer to what makes ordinary people achieve the impossible."
Another imaginative touch to this how-to book is the suspense and intrigue of the search. The answers to the narrator's questions are revealed gradually during late night encounters and conversations in a dimly-lit section of a library. Two mysterious beings - Mir Pacha and Mir Kotti - appear, disappear, and reappear the next day to help the narrator understand Junoon.
What the narrator learns are the "five cascading waves of Junoon":pure inspiration, sixth sight, fanatic focus, metaphysical energy, and social Junoon. On one level, these are presented as a business plan for success. On a higher level they are presented as a way to "uplift humanity."
Imam's book gives great hope to all. Its premise is that "ordinary people" can achieve Junoon. The power for extraordinary achievement is not limited to a special few. Each of us has the inherent power to attempt the unbelievable and achieve the impossible.
